As I explained yesterday, I had a series of posts planned about my search for the Christmas spirit. I had selected a number of humorous Christmas songs, about skipping Christmas to post each day leading up to Christmas. Given the executions of Officers Wenjian Lu and Rafael Ramos I’ve decided to nix the whole sequence.
We all have years where we wish we can just skip the hoopla that surrounds Christmas and that was indeed my attitude this year. But with the events of this past weekend, I find myself wanting to embrace Christmas. When I consider the Christmas the families of these officers will endure, I find I am reminded, while it is easy to get lost in your own problems this time of year, this is the time to think of others.
I’m not going to preach nor lecture and I’m certainly not going to claim that I will march forward feeling merry and happy but I have been reminded of the important things in life. With everything that is going on in the world, one thing is certain; WE NEED A LITTLE CHRISMAS:
