And soon it shall be 54

Today is the last day of Campaign 2014.

On election day I predicted a net gain of eight Senate seats with a 30% chance of a nine seat pick up. Today the GOP will garner that ninth seat.

In Louisiana, incumbent Mary Landrieu is facing almost certain defeat to GOP Congressman Bill Cassidy in today’s run-off election. The question is not if she will lose but by how much. Heck, even the leftist cheerleaders at MSNBC know it’s over:

On January 3rd, 2015, The Republicans will hold their largest majority in the House since the Hoover Administration and a 54 seat majority in the Senate. Until then, Harry Reid still calls the shots in the Senate and therefore limits anything the Republicans would like to accomplish during the lame duck session.

But come 2015, we’ll be watching to see what the Republicans do with their new majority.
