New York City has always been a liberal cesspool, but given the current crop of candidates in this year’s mayoral election it is clear that the cesspool is about to overflow. Lets take a quick look:
In the latest Quinnipiac poll, Public Advocate, Bill de Blasio, holds a 15 point lead and is only 4 points shy of avoiding a run off. De Blasio is the grandson of the legendary mayor, Fiorello La Guardia
He is winning big by promising to go after those big bad millionaires and give everyone free pre-k:
As mayor, I’ll spend every waking moment fighting to bring opportunity to every New Yorker — with a plan to create jobs in all five boroughs; a dramatic expansion of affordable housing and accessible health care; increasing taxes on the wealthy to fund early childhood and after-school programs; and building police-community relations that keep everyone safer.
I guess New Yorkers are longing for the good old days of the David Dinkins administration. For those who don’t know, he was a mayor so disastrous, liberal New York voted for republican Rudy Giuliani to undo the damage.
Yes, the election of Michael Bloomberg was a step to the left, but the election of Bill de Blasio will be a jump of the cliff.
I don’t even have the energy to hit my head.
I think I’ll just go find some scotch. It’s happy hour somewhere in the world.
